Foxtales exists to keep family voices close. The recordings your family makes belong to your family — never to advertisers, and never for sale.

Who we are

Foxtales (“we,” “us”) is the keepsake storytelling service at foxtalesclub.com, operated from the United States. Family storytellers record themselves reading aloud, and we press those recordings onto tap-to-play cards a child can hold. This policy explains what information we collect across foxtalesclub.com and its subdomains (including api.foxtalesclub.com), why we collect it, and the choices you have. What we collect

• Waitlist. Your email address, your country, and which page brought you to us, so we can send one note when we open.
• Your account. The email address you sign in with. If you choose “Sign in with Google,” we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account — nothing more.
• Storytellers and guests. When you invite family to record — or guests add themselves through your invite link — we collect the names, email addresses, and (when invitations go out by post) mailing addresses they provide.
• Recordings. The voice recordings storytellers make, along with story titles and dedications. These are the heart of the product, and we treat them that way.
• Purchases. Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We receive your name, shipping address, and order details so we can press and ship your cards; we never see or store full card numbers.
• Automatically. We use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service that sets no cookies and collects no personal identifiers — only aggregate page counts. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. We use your browser’s local storage to keep you signed in; we set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

The guided read-along feature listens through your browser’s built-in speech recognition so the page can follow a child’s reading. That audio is handled by your browser and is never sent to, received by, or stored on Foxtales servers.

Sign in with Google

If you sign in with Google, we use the name, email address, and profile picture Google shares to create your account, sign you in, and show you who’s signed in. We do not use this information for advertising, do not sell it, and do not share it except with the service providers described below. Foxtales’ use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How we use information

• To run the service: deliver invitations, guide recording sessions, turn recordings into playable cards, press and ship them, and keep your family’s archive playable.
• To send transactional email — sign-in links, invitations you ask us to send, gentle recording reminders, and order updates.
• To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used, and to keep it secure.

We never sell personal information, and we show no third-party advertising. We also never use your recordings to train artificial-intelligence models or share them with anyone outside the circle you choose.

Who we share it with

Only with the services that make Foxtales work, and only so they can work on our behalf: Supabase (accounts, database, and recording storage), Google (sign-in), Resend (email delivery), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (website hosting and the waitlist), and Fly.io (audio processing). Each is bound to use your information only to provide its service to us.

Sharing inside your own circle is the product itself: storytellers’ names and recordings are visible to the gift’s organizer, and anyone holding a card or its link can play the story it carries. We may also disclose information if the law genuinely requires it, or as part of a change in ownership of Foxtales — in which case this policy still governs.

Children and family recordings

Foxtales is designed for adults: accounts may only be held by people 18 or older. Children appear in Foxtales the way they appear in family life — a name in a dedication, a small voice on a card, a reader following along — and only when a parent, guardian, or invited family adult chooses to include them. We never knowingly collect information directly from a child under 13. A parent or guardian may review what we hold about their child, or have it deleted, by writing to [email protected].

Keeping and deleting

Recordings stay in your family archive so cards keep playing — that permanence is the promise of the product — until the organizer deletes them or asks us to. Account and guest details are kept while the account is active; waitlist emails are kept until we’ve opened or you ask off the list. Any storyteller may ask us to delete their own recordings and details, whether or not they hold the account. Email us and we’ll take care of it, normally within 30 days.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, correct it, receive a copy, or have it deleted, by emailing [email protected]. If you’re in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights the GDPR provides — including objection, restriction, and complaint to your local supervisory authority — and we process your information to fulfil our contract with you, with your consent, or in our legitimate interest in running the service. Foxtales is operated from the United States, so information is processed and stored there.

Security

Recordings and personal details are encrypted in transit, stored with access-controlled providers, and reachable only through the invitation and card links your family holds. No service can promise perfect security, but we keep the circle small by design.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date — and for meaningful changes, we’ll email account holders first.
